Field guide

Free online SEO tools handle the work that happens just before a page goes live: the tags, previews, and markup that decide how a page appears in search results and in every app someone shares it into. Most of it is quick, none of it is difficult, and almost all of it is forgotten until something looks wrong in public.

The Meta Tag Generator produces the full set — standard SEO tags, Open Graph for Facebook and LinkedIn, and Twitter Card markup — from a single form, with a live Google result preview beside it. Crucially, it measures truncation in pixels rather than counting characters, because that is how Google actually cuts titles and descriptions. A headline made of narrow letters genuinely fits more characters than one full of capitals, so a character counter will either cut you short or let you overrun without warning.

The Schema Markup Generator builds valid JSON-LD for Article, FAQ, Product, LocalBusiness, Breadcrumb, HowTo and Organization, flagging the fields Google requires before a page is eligible for a rich result. The Robots.txt Generator ships with something most generators lack — a tester that takes a URL and a crawler and tells you which rule actually wins, because robots.txt precedence is longest-match rather than first-match and that catches people out constantly. The Readability Checker runs six standard formulas at once and is honest that syllable-based scores are estimates. The UTM Campaign Builder assembles tagged links and normalises case, which prevents one campaign being split across several rows in your analytics.

The rest of the line covers the mechanics of a site rather than a single page. The XML Sitemap Generator turns a URL list into a valid sitemap.xml, deduplicating and validating as it goes — and is honest that no in-browser tool can crawl your site to find those URLs, because browsers block cross-origin requests. The Redirect Generator produces Apache, Nginx, Netlify or Vercel rules from a migration map and flags the two things that actually break migrations: loops and chains. The Hreflang Generator handles multilingual sites and states the reciprocity rule that silently invalidates most implementations. The Open Graph Preview reads tags you already have and shows why a share is rendering as a bare link, and the Keyword Density Analyser is deliberately upfront that density is a diagnostic, not a target.

Everything runs locally in your browser. That matters more here than it might seem: the pages you are writing tags for are usually unreleased, and there is no reason for a draft title, a pre-launch URL, or an unannounced product name to be sent to somebody else's server just to preview a snippet.

These tools interlink naturally with the rest of the workbench. Use the Slug Generator for clean, readable URLs, the Reading Time Calculator to set expectations on long articles, the JSON Formatter when you are hand-editing structured data, and the HTML Minifier as a final step before deploying.
