Type your own text or pick a preset like CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, or DO NOT COPY, then set the angle, size, colour, and opacity. Around 15-20% opacity on a 45-degree diagonal gives the familiar faint stamp that reads clearly without obscuring the text underneath. Turn on tiling and the watermark repeats in a grid across the whole page, which is considerably harder to crop out than a single mark — the right choice for a document you genuinely do not want circulated.

Rotated pages are handled correctly. Because PDF editors draw in the page's unrotated coordinate space, a 'centred' watermark on a sideways scan often ends up off-centre and turned in other tools; here the position is converted through each page's rotation so it lands where you asked.

One honest note: a watermark is a clear label, not a security control. It is drawn into the page content rather than added as a removable annotation layer, so it survives being opened in another viewer — but anyone determined enough can edit a PDF.
