Compress a PDF without wrecking the text
Most compressors take one silent shortcut: they flatten every page to an image. The file shrinks impressively and the text stops being text — no longer searchable, selectable, or readable by a screen reader, and you find out weeks later. Compress PDF offers both approaches explicitly. Lossless rewrites the file structure and leaves text untouched, with modest savings. Rasterise produces dramatic reductions and is the right choice for scans, which are already images. The tool detects whether a text layer exists and only warns when there is something to lose — and when savings come in under five per cent it says the file is already optimal rather than handing you a two per cent win.
Reorganise, number and watermark
Delete and reorder pages in a single pass, with thumbnails badged by their position in the finished document and deletions reversible until you save. Add page numbers with custom formats and a skippable cover page, or stamp every page with a watermark at adjustable opacity and angle. All three place content correctly on pages carrying a rotation flag — PDF editors draw in the unrotated coordinate system, so a number placed at bottom centre on a sideways scan lands against a side edge in most tools.
Passwords and text extraction
Unlock PDF removes encryption from a document you can already open — it decrypts, it does not crack. Protect PDF adds AES-256 with per-action printing, editing and copying controls. Both run qpdf as WebAssembly in the page, so neither the document nor the password is ever transmitted, which is a genuine difference from every well-known alternative. Extract Text pulls out the text layer and states plainly when a PDF is a scan with nothing to extract, rather than returning an empty box.
